Make-Your-Own Home Cleaning Solutions

Store bought cleaning chemicals can be abrasive and toxic. Skip the risk and discover how you can make your own safe, organic home cleaning solutions! 

1. All Purpose Cleaner

INGREDIENTS:

  • Vinegar
  • Water
  • Dish Soap
  • Spray Bottle

STEPS:

  1. Fill spray bottle halfway with vinegar.
  2. Add a squirt of dish soap.
  3. Top up with water.
  4. Spray surfaces to be cleaned and wipe with rag of choice.

2. Kitchen / Bathroom Scrub

INGREDIENTS:

  • Baking soda
  • Dish soap

STEPS:

  1. Mix dish soap with enough baking soda to make a paste.
  2. Apply to area to be scrubbed.
  3. Scrub gently with cloth or sponge and rinse well.

*GREAT FOR GREASY MESSES!

3. Disinfectant Spray

INGREDIENTS:

  • Hydrogen peroxide (3%)
  • Spray Nozzle

STEPS:

  1. Attach a spray nozzle to your bottle of hydrogen peroxide. (Leave in brown bottle, as HP is light sensitive and will break down when exposed to light.)
  2. Spray dirty surfaces and allow solution to fizz.
  3. When fizzing stops, wipe with rag of your choice.
  4. Repeat if necessary.

*USE CAREFULLY, AVOID FABRICS.

4. Oven Cleaner

INGREDIENTS:

  • Vinegar
  • Baking soda

STEPS:

  1. Boil vinegar in kettle or on stove top.
  2. Pour into heat-proof bowl and place in middle of the oven.
  3. Close door and leave for 1 hour or two.
  4. Remove bowl but DO NOT DUMP.
  5. Sprinkle baking soda into bottom of the oven and scrub.
  6. Sprinkle with warm vinegar and allow to sit for an hour.
  7. Return and wipe clean.

5. Microwave Cleaner

INGREDIENTS:

  • Vinegar
  • Water

STEPS:

  1. Put one cup vinegar and one cup water in a microwave safe bowl.
  2. Microwave on high for 5 minutes.
  3. Let stand for 15 minutes.
  4. Wipe clean.

6. Glass Cleaner

INGREDIENTS:

  • Vinegar
  • Water
  • Spray bottle

STEPS:

  1. Fill spray bottle 1/2 full of vinegar.
  2. Top up with water.
  3. Spray windows, mirrors or other glass items with the spray and wipe with a microfiber rag, a glass cleaning rag, or homemade rags (old flannel blankets work great).
