The Top Holiday Organizing Tips

It’s the holiday season and that can mean some extra clutter. Don’t let your holiday hoarding get in the way of your organized life. Use these top holiday organizing tips to whip your celebrations into tip-top shape.

Keep the Lights On

Test your holiday lights before you store them away. Replace dead bulbs or strands that don’t work immediately. Make a loop out of each strand (as in the image below) and wrap the ends around the loop to keep wires from tangling. Once each strand is separately wound, place in separate gallon freezer bags and place in large plastic container.

Dividers, Dividers, Dividers

Use old wine boxes or purchase a cardboard box with dividers to store your more hardy holiday ornaments. For longer life from your ornaments, don’t store in an attic or basement – where temperatures fluctuate. Instead, store in a home closet or beneath a bed.

Protect the Fragile Ones

Protect your more delicate ornaments by wrapping them in acid free tissue paper. Place the ornament at the bottom of a rectangular sheet, directly in the center. Roll the ornament up in the tissue paper, so it looks as if it is a burrito. Carefully fold the right side over the ornament and fix with tape. Flip the ornament over and do the same to the other side, so a thick layer of padding protects each side of the ornament.
